Numb, because a former colleague passed away on Monday and although I never knew her well enough to strike a proper conversation save for "hello" and "goodbye", my heart aches nevertheless.

Glad, because I may have just saved a cousin's friend from having his insurers repudiate liability against him. Being in the legal line, equipped with (most of) the legal knowledge in the world, is rewarding like that.
